New Year's Day Parkrun at Mountlucas Windfarm
Mountlucas Parkrun held a special New Year's Day parkrun this week with almost 100 participants and volunteers taking part.
It was a chilly morning, however the rain stayed away, and the sun even attempted to peep out. Mountlucas parkrun welcomed visitors from nearby Vicarstown Parkrun, and also had visitors from Banbridge, Yorkshire and Germany. Hayley McAteer from Banbridge celebrated her 150th parkrun and she was also the first lady home in a time of 21:00.
Well done Hayley. Hayley has completed her 150 parkruns across an unbelievable 60 different parkrun locations. Her mother Caroline travelled over from England to be with Hayley on the occasion of her 150th parkrun. Hayley and her mother are working through numerous parkruns to complete an alphabet of parkruns i.e. one parkrun beginning with each letter of the alphabet.
They had chosen Mountlucas parkrun for M. Speaking to Hayley after the event, she said: "Mountlucas is now my new favourite parkrun. I received a really positive response on messenger when I had asked about the parkrun beforehand, so I wanted to go. My friend had been there before and said it was a really nice run and Mountlucas parkrun has some great reviews on the 5k app."
There were seven newcomers to parkrun; we hope you enjoyed the morning and that this morning is the start of a long and enjoyable Parkrun journey. In fact, Derek O’Keeffe, on his first ever parkrun, was first male home in an impressive time of 18:50.
