Mullooly set to bring European MEPs to Offaly in the new year

Ciaran Mullooly MEP has confirmed the European Commission Regional Development committee will visit Kilcormac Development Association in the new year.

The stop, set for Wednesday, February 26, is part of a fact-finding visit to Ireland with the purpose of seeing how the Just Transition Cohesion Fund is being used in the country.

"The purpose of the trip is for MEPS from all over Europe to see for themselves how the European Commission Just Transition Cohesion Fund is being spent in Ireland," Mullooly said.

He added that the MEPs also aim to "learn from the local committee of some of the challenges in working with the fund to try and create jobs in areas in areas of the peatland where jobs were lost."
