Three national awards for Birr and District Motor Club

Birr and District Motor Club was celebrating last week after three of its members were honoured at the Motorsport Ireland Champions of Irish Motorsport Awards in Dublin.

This event celebrates the achievements of Ireland’s motorsport community.

Mark Keegan was crowned National Autocorss grass surface junior buggy champion.

Mickey O Connor received the National Austocross grass surface junior saloon champion award.

Both Mark and Mickey had a busy year racing with Mark also competing in the Mini rally cross championship in Mondello Park and Mickey competing in the national loose surface championship as well.

This was a fantastic achievement for both lads.

Pat Horan, a stalwart of the club, received the JC Millard Memorial Award for Clubman of the Year.

Pat was honoured for his outstanding dedication to the club throughout the years and also being one of the founding members.

Pat has been involved in every facet of the sport since the club's formation and his dedication as club treasurer, secretary and president over the years has been immense. He has also served in key roles on events, such as being COC or Steward, and went on to be an International Scrutineer in the 1980s. Pat got to return to competing in 2024, after a long hiatus and took top honours in both the Munster and Grass Two-Wheel Drive Autocross championships.

Congratulations Pat on a wonderful achievement.
