“Homes with newborn babies still without power in Offaly": Nolan

Independent TD Carol Nolan has said she is engaging with the ESB to try and prioritise the restoration of power to homes in Offaly where newborn babies are present.

Deputy Nolan was speaking as ESB Networks welcomed crews from French counterparts Enedis, who have arrived to assist with power restoration in the aftermath of Storm Darragh:

“I accept that the ESB crews are working in severely challenging conditions and that power has been restored to 375,000 premises; but the fact remains that as of this morning there are some houses in Offaly with newborn babies that are still waiting for reconnection,” said Deputy Nolan.

“The ESB are engaging very constructively with my office, and I want to acknowledge that, but we really need to prioritise cases such as those I have referred to, where mothers with newborns are really finding it very difficult trying to cope without any power for the third consecutive day,” concluded Deputy Nolan.
