Four GOAL Miles to take place in Offaly
Details of four GOAL Miles in Offaly over the Christmas period have been confirmed.
Whether you’re walking, running, or simply showing your support, every step you take will help raise vital funds for GOAL’s life-saving humanitarian work across 15 countries in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Ukraine.
Through the GOAL Mile, your family could be the lifeline for other families in desperate need this Christmas.
There are over 160 GOAL Mile events taking place across Ireland, including four in Offaly.
The current GOAL Mile locations in Offaly are:
Emmet Square, Birr, Christmas Day, 1pm
Kinnitty GAA Club, Christmas Day, 9.30am
Edenderry AC Seniors, Derry Rovers Track, St. Stephen's Day, 10am
Kilclonfert GAA, Saturday 30th December, 1:30pm
This is a fantastic opportunity to come together with family, friends, and local communities this Christmas and to make a real difference.
Speaking about their motivations for becoming a GOAL Mile organiser and their ask to the people of Offaly, GOAL Mile Champion, Emma Nee Haslam in Birr said: “The GOAL Mile is a fantastic opportunity to catch up with friends you just see annually (or even less often) while also supporting the vital humanitarian work that GOAL does throughout the world.
“The people of Offaly are extremely generous each year and we encourage everyone to come out to the GOAL Mile in their area or even if you’re away for the Christmas, seek out the GOAL Mile in the area.”
Last year, the GOAL Mile raised an incredible €630,000 – funds that continue to support GOAL’s work in some of the world's worst humanitarian crises, including in Sudan, Gaza, Lebanon, Ukraine and Haiti.
Reflecting on this impact, Helen McVeigh, Director of Fundraising at GOAL, said: "Every year, the GOAL Mile unites people from all corners of Ireland in a powerful display of solidarity and generosity. This cherished Irish tradition is not only deeply meaningful for communities here at home but also has a profound ripple effect across borders, reaching those who need it most."
