Shinrone student's musical talent recognised at national ceremony
A Shinrone student was recently honoured with an award for excellence from the Leinster School of Music and Drama (LSMD) at a ceremony in Dublin.
Dayna Quinlan was named as the LSMD's Overall Winner for Music Performance, for which she was presented with the LSMD Perpetual Cup.
The LSMD Excellence Awards are a celebration of exceptional talent from students across Ireland who take LSMD grade examinations.
This award is highly sought-after annually by students and is very competitive as nominees and winners are selected by rigorous rounds of adjudication by LSMD and Griffith College adjudicators.
Winners are then selected from all the exam students who participate in music, drama and singing throughout Ireland, which makes the selection process even a higher standard to compete in.
The Prizewinners Concert is an annual event that also acts as a platform for showcasing the hard work and commitment of the LSMD students, many of whom received Special Recognition for their remarkable achievements.
Also honoured at the event was Londiwe Ndlovu from Athlone, Westmeath, who was recognised as the Overall Winner for Speech & Drama Performance, and also presented with the LSMD Perpetual Cup,
The event also celebrated the Excellence Award Quarter finalists, who each received a cash prize and a silver medal.
LSMD Faculty Head Karen Casey in her closing remarks celebrated the remarkable legacy of the Excellence Awards, spotlighting past winners like broadcaster Laura Whitmore, and former LSMD students Aoibhinn and Doireann Garrihy.
She said the event was a wonderful celebration of artistic achievement and a testament to The LSMD’s role in nurturing Ireland’s next generation of performers.
