Sadness at passing of "gentle and kind" Teresa Casey
Many warm tributes have been paid this week to the memory of one of Ballycumber's best known residents, Teresa Casey.
The much-admired and respected mother of five, including popular local singer and former RTE 'You're A Star' contestant, Simon Casey, passed away peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore on Saturday last, November 23, surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Rahan, the late Teresa Buckley made her home in Boher, Ballycumber along with her husband, Len, where they reared their family of five, daughter Suzanne and sons Leonard, Terence, Simon and Conrad.
The hugely-popular figure in the local community was known for her kind, caring and gentle disposition, and was immensely proud of the achievements of all her family. She was a great neighbour and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need throughout her life.
The late Teresa Casey was described in touching online tributes this week as being “the most beautiful, gentle and kind lady” and as someone who has “a heart of gold and a passion for animals.”
Simon Casey announced the passing of his beloved mother in a heartfelt social media post yesterday (Sunday) and added “I will miss you every day Mam.”

The remains of the late Teresa Casey will repose at The Granary, adjacent to St Manchan’s Church Boher, Ballycumber, Co. Offaly (Eircode R35 NX30) this evening (Monday, November 25) from 4pm to 8pm.
Removal will take place from her home in Boher, Ballycumber tomorrow morning (Tuesday) for Funeral Mass at 11am in St. Manchan's Church, Boher, (Eircode R35 NX30), followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Predeceased by her parents Bridget and Patrick, Teresa is survived by and will be greatly missed by her loving husband Len, her devoted children Suzanne, Leonard, Terence, Simon and Conrad, brother Oliver, sisters Kathleen, Rita (Rahan, Co. Offaly) Rosaleen andMary-Bridget (UK).
She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Harry, Lucy, Susie, Joe, James, Charlie, Thomas, Grace, Mella, John, Conn & Tadhg, son in law Robbie, daughters in law, Kay, Stephanie, Denise and Méabh, brother in law George, sisters in law Ruth, Caroline anfVilma along with her nieces, nephews, extended family and many good friends.
