Christmas festivities getting underway in Tullamore this weekend

The festive season will be getting into full swing in Offaly this weekend, with the switching on of the Christmas light in Tullamore on Sunday.

A weekend full of gifts, handcrafted treasures, and seasonal treats kicks off today (Friday), from 3pm to 7pm, as the Tullamore Christmas Market comes to town.

Saturday and Sunday will see a full day of festivities, with the markets remaining open from 10am to 7pm on both days.

The Tullamore Christmas Lights switch-on ceremony will also take place on Sunday, November 24, promising a spectacular evening filled with lights, music, and festive cheer.

The highlight of the weekend, the lights switch-on ceremony, will be packed with entertainment and festive magic.

Christmas Tunes will bring the warm feeling of the season from 4pm with DJ Keith Caffrey at the main stage on Patrick Street for a set of holiday favourites.

Santa Claus is set to make an appearance, arriving in Tullamore to parade through the town accompanied by the enchanting cast of Sleeping Beauty, bringing a touch of panto magic to the evening.

The main event will take place at 6pm in Patrick's Street - as the lights switch on, illuminating Tullamore with a breathtaking festive display.

Tullamore Chamber president Caroline Collins expressed her excitement ahead of the weekend: "The Christmas Lights switch-on and markets are a highlight of the year, bringing our community together to celebrate the joy of the season.

"We’re thrilled to offer such a vibrant and festive lineup for everyone to enjoy."
