More international athletics success for Eileen Kenny

Athlone woman Eileen Kenny and her Irish Women's 70 cross country team finished second in the British and Irish Masters Cross Country International at the Billy Neill Country Park, Belfast, on Saturday.

This event is an annual Masters Cross Country race held between England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales, bringing together top master athletes aged 35 and above.

Each participating country holds their own trial race to determine their international team members and the rotation ensures each of the participating countries will host the event once every five years.

Eileen, a member of Tullamore Harriers, had a great run finishing sixth in the W70 category in a challenging 6000m and was the 3rd scorer for the Women’s 70 team .

The team finished in second place with 14 points to England, who claimed victory with 8 points. Well done to Eileen and the entire W70 team!

Originally from Mount Temple, Eileen lives in Athlone after moving back to Westmeath from Cork.
