Woodie’s Tullamore store celebrates 10 years of children's charity fundraising
A Woodie’s store in Offaly has celebrated the wrap-up of another successful Woodie’s Heroes campaign.
Woodie’s Tullamore raised €8,022 with help from customers, colleagues, and suppliers. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Woodie’s annual charity fundraiser, Woodie's Heroes, which has become a vital part of the community efforts by its store in Offaly and nationwide.
The significant 10-year milestone was marked by Woodie's CEO Damien Dwyer announcing that this year's Woodie's Heroes campaign raised an impressive €563,134 nationwide. This brings the total funds raised by Woodie’s Heroes over the past decade to an astounding €4,100,786.
Since Woodie's Heroes was established in 2015, Woodie's colleagues have nominated their chosen children's charities to benefit from the fundraiser, with 100 per cent of all funds raised divided equally among them. This year's benefiting charities were Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland, Children’s Health Foundation, Childline by ISPCC, and Down Syndrome Ireland.
Damien Dwyer, CEO of Woodie's, says: "As we celebrate 10 years of Woodie’s Heroes, I’m overwhelmed by what we’ve accomplished together in Offaly and nationwide. This initiative started in response to our colleagues who genuinely wanted to help the communities we serve, and it has become such an important part of who we are at Woodie's, bringing pride and camaraderie to our 35 stores.
“Our colleagues are the heart of Woodie’s Heroes. They choose the children's charities we support, lead the efforts in-store, and bring incredible energy to everything we do. It's organic, it's genuine, and it creates a buzz across our stores and support office. Raising over €4.1 million in 10 years is an amazing achievement, and I couldn’t be prouder. Meeting the families and children supported by our charities and seeing first-hand the impact, from speech therapy to assistance dogs, shows the true difference we’re making together. Woodie’s Heroes is part of what makes us who we are, and it strengthens our bond with the communities around us. We look forward to continuing this journey in the years ahead."
