Several Offaly motorists clocked at over 100km per hour in 80km zones today
Gardai are again highlighting the dangers of speeding as part of a National Slow Down Day, stating that several motorists in Offaly were clocked at well over 100km per hour in 80km zones this morning (Thursday).
On social media, the Gardai shared images from the Offaly roads policing unit which showed speeds of 111km, 117km, 114km and 120km being detected earlier today on roads in the county with an 80km speed limit.
"Get the point not the points," the Gardai reiterated.
An Garda Síochána started a 24-hour national speed enforcement operation, ‘Slow Down Day’, supported by the Road Safety Authority (RSA) and other stakeholders at 7am today, Thursday.
Speeds detected elsewhere in the Midlands today include a motorist driving at 128km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N4 at Culleen Beg, Mullingar, and another driver doing 94km/h in a 60km/h zone on the N4 at Drishoge, Carrick-On-Shannon, Roscommon.
