Two Offaly farms finalists in FBD Better Farming Awards

Two Offaly farms have made it to the final of the FBD Better Farming Awards taking place on Thursday, November 7 in the Heritage Hotel, Killenard, Co. Laois.

Fox Covert Partnership and Egan Family Farms are finalists in the prestigious FBD Better Farming Awards.

Fox Covert Partnership are finalists in the Small Sustainable Food Producer of the Year category and Egan Family Farm are finalists in the Herdwatch Environmental Farmer of the Year category.

Fox Covert Partnership are nominated in the category of Small Sustainable Food Producer of the year (under 20 employees).

Fox Covert Farm Hemp Seed Products is reducing their carbon footprint and building sustainably within their farm while being mindful of nutrition and healthy eating led them to work with hemp seeds.

They process hemp hearts and milled hemp as part of their products.

Egan family farm have been nominated in the category of Environmental Farmer of the year.

They are in the process of becoming organic certified and also converting from dry stock to a suckler system. They are the first in Ireland carrying out on-farm wetland agriculture to diversify our farming options.

The Egan family think the focus should be on family farms, supporting local economies, and shorter food chains as this is what is truly sustainable.
