Danielle claims Bobby Rea Memorial win

Tullamore Harriers AC News

Tullamore Harriers athlete Danielle Donegan was first lady home in the Bobby Rea Memorial Cross Country race, in Belfast last Sunday.

In the senior ladies' race, Danielle was a clear winner of the 6000m course in 21.54. In 2nd place was Rebecca Rossiter in 22.06, and 3rd was Annabel Morrison in 22.20.

IUAA Cross Country

Over 330 athletes from 16 third-level institutions made the trip down south to Cork last Saturday for the 63rd edition of the IUAA Intervarsity Cross Country Championships. Action began with the women’s 5000m race and despite bad weather the night before, conditions were good underfoot. Evelyn Coughlan, representing Trinity College Dublin (TCD), was out hard from the start and finished a very creditable 8th place against tough competition. Aisling Cotter was also on the TCD team and raced well to finish 56th.

In the men’s 8000m race, Cian Law was representing Dublin City University (DCU) and, after a cautious start, worked his way up to a fine 19th place finish. Michael Murphy, representing Dublin City University (DCU), was 75th finisher.

Milner races Cross Country in Oregon

Mark Milner travelled with the Portland Pilots men's cross country team to compete at the George Oja Linfield Invitational in Salem, Oregon last weekend. In his first cross country race in almost a decade, Mark competed well finishing 7th out of 260 finishers in a time of 24:23.50 for 8km.

Dunne and Mooney in New Jersey action

James Dunne and Laura Mooney travelled with the Georgetown University men's and the Providence College women's cross country teams respectively to compete at Princeton, New Jersey, in the Princeton Fall Classic last Friday.

Up against a tough field of competitors Dunne raced well and finished 17th covering the 8000m distance in 23:17. Laura too raced well finishing 29th in 20:21 for 6000m.

Solas 10k Run & Walk for Life

Well done Melissa Hogan who competed in the Solas 10k Run & Walk for Life in Dungarvan on October 12. Melissa joined over 3000 participants who supported the Solas Cancer Support Group.

Condolences

The clubs extend condolences to Denis Flynn on the passing his mother Kitty Flynn. May she rest in peace.
