Woman in her 20s hospitalised after road collision near Tullamore

A pedestrian in her 20s has been taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore after being struck by a car early this morning (Thursday).

At approximately 6.45am, Gardai and emergency services responded to the incident which happened on the R420 road, between Tullamore and Portarlington, at Meelaghans.

Gardai said a car collided with the young woman, who was then brought to hospital for treatment.

"The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time," said a Garda spokesperson.

No other injuries were reported as a result of the incident, and the Garda spokesperson added that enquiries in relation to it were ongoing.
