Local firm fundraising for former employee after major cycling accident
Townmore Construction in Tullamore has raised €765 for Stephen Corroon, a former employee who suffered a life-changing injury after a cycling accident in May of this year.
The father-of-two suffered a crevicular spine injury after falling off his bike during a cycling event in the Dublin Mountains with his local club, the Lakeside Wheelers.
The accident left the 41-year-old with a permanent neurological deficit, rendering it unlikely that he will have use of his arms or legs again.
After spending nine weeks under the care of the National Spinal Injuries Unit in the Mater Hospital, Stephen is now receiving treatment in Tullamore Regional Hospital as he awaits a transfer to the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dún Laoghaire.
Organiser of the Townmore Construction fundraiser for Stephen, Mark Cronin said: “Stephen's immediate requirements include significant home adaptations, the need for extensive equipment to ensure his safe and dignified care at home as well as the long term input from occupational therapy and physiotherapy personnel.”
Townmore Construction in Tullamore intends to run a number of events over the coming months up to Christmas, with a view to raising €5,000 or more towards Stephen's recovery journey.
