Birr Engineering Heritage Festival takes place this weekend

The Birr Engineering Heritage Festival takes place this weekend from October 18 to 20 in Birr Theatre and Arts Centre.

Opening at 7.00pm on Friday, the three day event includes a welcome reception, four lectures, guided tour of Birr Castle Gardens, lunch, dinner and evening reception on the Saturday, and plenty of opportunity to celebrate Ireland's amazing engineering heritage.

There will be a selection of presentations from world-leading experts on the achievements of Charles Parsons, as well as guided tours of Birr Castle and Gardens, an exhibition, and networking opportunities to celebrate Ireland's amazing engineering heritage with fellow heritage enthusiasts.

Events will discuss where our electrical power comes from, how the luxury liners of the early 1900s were driven at unforeseen speeds to hold the Blue Riband in trans-Atlantic crossing, and the men and women of Birr and North Tipperary of the 1800s who were leaders in the advancement of science.

Tickets for the weekend are priced at €200, whilst day tickets start from €30.
