Recent Cannonball event raises over €300,000 for children's charity
Cannonball Ireland has announce that a sum of €308,000 was raised for the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation as a result of its recent supercar spectacle, which visited several parts of the country including Athlone and Edenderry.
The money was raised through several fundraising initiatives, including 'When You Fill, Support Jack and Jill', in partnership with event sponsor, Circle K Ireland.
Cannonball is described as "the largest organised road trip in Europe featuring the finest cars on the planet," with vehicles from Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche, Aston Martin, and Maserati taking part.
This year's event took place from September 6-8, and drew a turnout of some 250,000 spectators at various locations around the country.
The supercars travelled through Edenderry on Friday, September 6, and stopped at the Circle K M6 service station, between Athlone and Moate, for a refuelling visit on Sunday, September 8.
"The figure of €308,000 raised this year for Jack and Jill is very welcome news indeed for all who took part in Cannonball," said the event's founder, Alan Bannon.
"My very sincere thanks to all of our sponsors, partners, participants, spectators and crew that make up our Cannonball family."
Organisers said the amount generated in 2024 brings the total sum raised for Irish children's charities up to €1.94 million.
