Past pupil Cmdt Gallagher presents medals at Tullamore College Gaisce Award ceremony

A former Tullamore College student returned to the school recently to present Gaisce Awards to current 5th and 6th Year students.

The school held a ceremony on October 3 marking the achievements of the 5th Year students who completed the Bronze President's Award during Transition Year, and the 6th Year students who completed the Silver President's Award during 5th year.

Prinicipal Mr Edward McEvoy congratulated the awardees on their achievement, praising the students for completing this challenge, which he said builds character.

Guest of Honour, Commandant and past pupil Emmett Gallagher, presented the awards, and encouraged the students to persevere and continue on to the next medal.

Gaisce Development Officer Joy Winston also addressed the crowd, speaking about Gaisce and the Defence Forces Challenge.

Tullamore College extended its appreciation to the President Award Leaders, Mr Feighery, Ms Nolan, Ms Underwood and Ms Mc Evoy for their hard work throughout the year.

It also congratulated the Bronze and Silver President's Award recipients on their fantastic achievements, and wishes the best of luck to those continuing on with Silver and even signing up for Gold.
