Jesus Christ Superstar cast announced
With Tullamore Musical Society set to stage Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's iconic musical, Jesus Christ Superstar next February to mark their 70th anniversary production, the cast list has been announced, with a number of society stalwarts set to take leading roles.
Liam Egan is set to take the lead role of Jesus Christ. Although a native of Dunboyne in county Meath, Liam is no stranger to Tullamore audiences with his most recent stage role being that of Harry Boland in Bryan Flynn's acclaimed 'Michael Collins – A Musical Drama' in 2023.
Eoghan Fingleton from Ballyfin in county Laois, is cast in the role of Judas, while a local stalwart of the Tullamore Musical Society and AIMS award winner, Karen O'Brien (née Martin) is sure to receive a very warm welcome from Tullamore audiences when she takes on the role of Mary Magdalene.
Another huge talent locally, John Conroy, takes on one of the most demanding roles in Jesus Christ Superstar, that of Pontius Pilate, while other stalwarts of the local musical society who will also play leading roles in the 2025 production are: Aoife Fitzsimons. Jessie Woods and Ruth Kelly (all of whom play High Priest roles); Stephen Rabbette from Clara who plays Peter and Amanda Cunningham, also from Clara who plays the role of Annas.
The role of Caiphas will be played by Portlaoise's Joan While, while Chris Corroon from Mullingar will play King Herod. Both Joan and Chris have played many musical roles on stages across the Midlands, including numerous roles with Tullamore Musical Society in the past.
The role of Simon is to be played by Rian Fitzsimons Condron, while the roles of the Apostles will be cast at the beginning of rehearsals for the upcoming production.
The production team in charge of bringing Jesus Christ Superstar to the Tullamore stage are Director Art McGauran; Choreographer Graham Finnerty and Musical Director, Enda O'Connor.
Tullamore Musical Society will stage Jesus Christ Superstar in Esker Arts Centre from Sunday, February 16 to to Friday, February 21 2025, with Sponsors and Patrons Gala Nights on Saturday, February 15 and Saturday, February 22.
Meanwhile members of the society are currently in rehearsals for a very special evening of song to mark the 70th Anniversary of Tullamore Musical Society, which takes place in the Tullamore Court Hotel on Sunday, October 27 next at 6pm.
The nostalgic evening, called “Singing Through the Decades – 70 Years on Stage” will feature many past and current members of the society who will take the audience on a trip down memory lane of their most iconic shows over the past seven decades.
