Rambling House event to raise funds for Offaly Family Carers
A Rambling House event which aims to recreate the old tradition of an evening of music, songs, stories and craic will take place in Tullamore next week to mark Positive Ageing Week.
The Rambling House will take place on Thursday night next, October 3, in Tullamore Rugby Club at 7.30pm. Admission is €10, and all proceeds from the night will go to the Offaly branch of Family Carers Ireland.
The event is being organised by Offaly Older Person's Network, which has played an important role in highlighting the positive contribution that older members make to society, and have been organising various events over the years as part of Positive Ageing Week.
In 2022, Offaly Older Person's Network organised a very successful Fashion Show, and they followed it up by hosting their first Rambling House event last year. Such was the success of this initiative that they repeated it again last March and next week's Rambling House will be the third such event to be organised by the network over the past year.
Positive Ageing Week (PAW) is an Age Action initiative to celebrate the contributions of older people and to promote their agency and this year's event takes place from Monday next, September 30 to Sunday, October 6.
Events are organised around the country to emphasise the positive aspects of ageing and the significant roles older individuals play in their communities and families. The week-long event happens yearly, with a new theme, and aims to challenge stereotypes and misconceptions about aging and to highlight the positivity and vitality of older age
