Residents in two areas of Offaly urged to conserve water

Uisce Éireann is urging customers in Bushertown, Moneygall, and surrounding areas to conserve water in order to protect the supply.

Due to a combination of factors, including high demand and low rainfall levels, some customers may be experiencing low water pressure.

Homes and Farms are being asked to be mindful of their water usage to allow supply to catch up with demand.

By making simple adjustments, such as fixing leaks or reducing shower times, customers can make a significant impact on water conservation efforts.

Uisce Éireann's Leakage reduction teams have detected several large leaks in the affected areas.

They will continue to monitor the levels of all supplies over the coming days and will take any actions that may be necessary to maintain supplies, including communicating about localised issues as they arise.

Emphasising the importance of conserving water during this time, Uisce Éireann’s James Joyce said: “We are appealing to customers in the affected area to conserve water to give supply time to replenish.

"Any reduction that customers can make in their usage can collectively result in significant supply improvements for all customers.”

James added: "It’s important that we all consider our water usage and look at simple yet impactful ways to conserve water. It can sometimes be difficult to know where to start, but even small changes can make a significant difference.”
