Offaly Libraries exciting line-up for Sustainable Development Goals week
Offaly libraries has a jam packed lineup of events for Sustainable Development Goals week, which is running from September 20 to September 29.
The events come as Irelands marks its third annual Sustainable Development Goals week, as they work towards their 2030 deadline.
Over the course of the week, Offaly Libraries aims to help children and young people to understand the 17 sustainable development goals.
Events are organised for all ages, from young children to teens. The line-up includes workshops, movies, sustainable crafts, and family events.
Book displays and themed bookclubs are also being made available for adults interested in learning more about the project.
One exciting event which is taking place in Clara, Edenderry, and Tullamore on Friday, September 20 is a Halloween Costume Swap.
Those who donate on Friday will then be able to pick up a new costume, with Tullamore hosting their pick up the following day, Saturday September 21, and Clara and Edenderry hosting their pick up in October.
Sustianable craft sessions are taking place Birr, Clara, and Edenderry on September 20, in Tullamore on September 21, in Daingean on September 24 and September 26, in Birr and Edenderry on September 27, and in Tullamore, Kilcormac , and Ferbane on September 28.
Storytime's are taking place across the week on September 21 in Edenderry and Ferbane, September 25 in Birr and Tullamore, and on September 28 in Banagher, Daingean and Edenderry.
Offaly Libraries will be hosting movie screenings in Birr on September 21, in Edenderry on September 25, and in Daingean on September 26.
The libraries will also be hosting school events, including sustainability workshops for teens, and giant doodles and zoom sessions for primary schools.
All events on offer over the course of Sustainable Development Goals week will be free of charge. Booking is required by contacting your local library.
