Tullamore Toastmasters celebrates 30th anniversary

Tullamore Toastmasters marked their 30th anniversary on Thursday September 12.

Outgoing Club President, Mary McKernan opened the celebration by welcoming members past and present and extending a special welcome to toastmasters from Athlone, Mullingar, and Longford clubs and to international members.

Mary paid tribute to founding members Helen Keenan and Mary McGuiness and to past presidents and officers.

She applauded all members as each person has contributed to the success of Tullamore Toastmasters over the past three decades.

Catherine Ryan, current Club President welcomed Angela Afieghe, district representative who applauded the success of Tullamore Toastmasters in reaching their 30 year anniversary.

The milestone coincides with the centenary of Toastmasters International.

Angela recognised this achievement with an award which she presented on behalf of the district, followed by a presentation by Paul O’Mahoney on the importance of celebration.

The festivities continued with Charles Malone and Ciara Kinnarney leading out on ‘topics’ which is a longstanding toastmaster’s tradition.

This was followed by a meal from Sirrocos Restaurant, and a prize draw coordinated by Eileen Fleming.

Tullamore Toastmasters extend their sincere thanks to The Buff Day Spa, Sirrocos and The Brewery Tap for their generous sponsorship of prizes.

They also wish to extend their thanks to all charter members of Tullamore Toastmasters for their supreme efforts in planning the event, and for their commitment to the ongoing success of the organisation.

Tullamore Toastmasters will regroup at 8pm on Thursday, September 26 in St Mary’s Youth and Community Centre.

The club meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month and new members are always welcome.
