Aldi Offaly stores donate €2,500 to two community groups

ALDI store teams in Offaly have donated €2,500 to two community groups, as part of the company's Community Grants programme.

Tullamore Tidy Towns has been chosen by colleagues across ALDI stores in Offaly to receive a €500 ALDI gift card.

Acorn Edenderry has also been chosen to receive an additional support of €2,000 worth of ALDI gift cards, as part of an initiative to coincide with ALDI Ireland’s 25th anniversary in 2024.

This brings the total donation to those chosen organisations to €2,500 worth of ALDI gift cards.

The retailer has chosen one charity or community group in each of the 26 counties in the Republic of Ireland to benefit from the additional supports.

National Sustainability Manager Aldi Ireland, Rachel Nugent said: “We are delighted to continue to support local charities and community groups across the country through the ALDI Community Grants programme and to see the impact of our donation in the local communities of County Offaly.

“The Community Grants programme is one example of how ALDI is committed to investing and partnering with local communities and charities across Ireland and we look forward to continuing this engagement for years to come."

Aldi has two stores in the county, and is deeply involved in the local community.

To date, the stores have donated over 35,000 meals to local charities through ALDI’s partnership with FoodCloud, avoiding a total of 47,000kgs of CO2e.

ALDI partners with six innovative Offaly food and drink producers, spending €23 million with them in 2023.
