Unique Offaly Christmas single to be launched

Offaly Down Syndrome Association is to launch a Christmas single featuring its members and Offaly singer Simon Casey.

The launch will take place as part of the national Culture Night celebrations on Friday, September 20, and will be held at Esker Arts Tullamore.

The single is a rendition of “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” recorded in collaboration with Simon Casey, produced by Joe Egan from The Nutshed Studios in Clara, County Offaly, and with the Music Video produced by Stephen Heaney of Inpho Photography.

This unique project was funded under the Local Creative Youth Funding Scheme, is association with the Creative Ireland Programme, Department of Education and Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board, and with help from Music Generation Offaly.

It features the incredible voices of members from the Offaly Down Syndrome community, who have come together to share a message of hope, peace, and goodwill.

Offaly Down Syndrome Association said the single, inspired by the timeless John Lennon and Yoko Ono classic, is a testament to the talent and determination of its members, and said it is thrilled to share it with the world.

The launch takes place at 5.30pm on September 20 and the evening will include the official launch of the single, and an opportunity to meet the artists and supporters who made this project possible.

Guests will also enjoy light refreshments and the chance to connect with others in the community. Everyone is encouraged to attend and be a part of this joyous occasion. Admission is free.
