Kneecap to bring down curtain on Moonlit Movies series

The award-winning KNEECAP will bring down the curtain on the Moonlit Movies series in Offaly this Saturday (September 7) at the Courthouse Yard in Birr.

Since August, film lovers have been enjoying a mini season of classic Irish films on the big screen under the open sky at some of the county’s most unique venues.

KNEECAP is one of the most-talked about Irish films of the year. The fascinating Irish-language biopic sees the hip-hop trio, Móglaí Bap, Mo Chara and DJ Próvaí, playing themselves with Academy Award Nominee Michael Fassbender in tow laying down a global rallying cry for the defence of native cultures. KNEECAP won the Audience Prize: NEXT at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival last year after being the first-ever Irish language film to screen at the American film festival.

Gary Hoctor, coordinator of Moonlit Movies said: “We are so excited to give film lovers in Offaly a unique opportunity to see one of the most exciting Irish films in recent years as part of Moonlit Movies. We couldn’t think of a better finale to our innovative series of outdoor screenings than KNEECAP. It has been capturing the hearts and minds of film goers all over the world, so don't miss it right on your doorstep. ”

The Moonlit Movies experience also includes food by local vendors and is included in the full ticket price. Screening only tickets are also available.
