Local primary school student helps design camogie club jersey

The new jersey for St Sinchill’s Camogie Club Under 6 and nursery players has been unveiled.

The jersey is based on the winning art design in a competition for four local primary schools hosted by the club.

The club was amazed at all of the fantastic entries received, and has extended a huge thanks to the school Principals and staff of the four schools for promoting the competition with their students.

After deliberations and a committee vote, a runner-up was chosen from each school.

Congratulations to the following students who were presented with their prize of a St Sinchill’s t-shirt and a club crested sliotar recently: Ben Mathews, from Scoil Shinchill, Killeigh; Caoilfhionn Gorman, from Naomh Mhuire, Cloneygowan; Cathal Cuskelly, from Scoil Sheomsamh Naofa; Abbie Coughlan, from Scoil Na Croise Naofa, Geashill.

The overall winning art design went to Mia Carthy from Naomh Mhuire, Cloneygowan.

Mia’s jersey was chosen for its child friendly design and the committee loved how the club colours, club crest and camogie crest were included with such detail.

On Saturday, our nursery group had the honour of welcoming Mia to their Saturday morning session in Raheen GAA, with club GPO Emer.

On the morning, Mia’s jersey was unveiled, and Mia was presented with her own replica jersey.

The U6 group then played a match wearing the new jerseys and enjoyed some treats.

The club extend a big thank you to Mia for joining them, noting how it was lovely to see the future camogie and hurling stars wearing the new jerseys and we look forward to seeing the jerseys on the playing field for many years to come.

St Sinchill's nursery sessions, in collaboration with all the clubs in the parish, continue on Saturday mornings at 9.30am.
