Edenderry Lions Club hosting event to celebrate Crampton's success

Edenderry Lions Club is hosting an event to acknowledge Cian Crampton’s bronze medal success at the European U-18 Athletics Championships last month.

The event will take place at Larkin's Bar & Lounge, Edenderry tomorrow night (Thursday), August 22 at 7.30pm.

Crampton won a bronze medal in the discus at the European Under-18 Athletics Championships held in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia.

The Edenderry AC athlete threw an Irish record at this age group of 60.55m, and it was Ireland’s first ever field event medal at the European U-18 Championships.

Cian’s success saw him join an illustrious list of past Irish medal winners at these championships, including Rhasidat Adeleke, Sophie O’Sullivan and Sarah Healy, all of whom competed in the recent Olympic Games in Paris.

The bronze medal also added to the European Youth Olympics bronze Crampton won last year.

Edenderry Lions Club said everybody is welcome to Larkin's to show their support for Cian and to celebrate "his fantastic achievements to date".
