Bat walk taking place in Birr for Heritage Week

Locals are being offered the chance to take part in a bat walk, in Syngefield, Birr, as part of National Heritage Week.

The walk is taking place tomorrow (Thursday, August 22), from 8:30pm to 10:30pm.

Participants are being invited to park and meet outside Atkins Farm Machinery, at Syngefield Industrial Estate (Eircode: R42 CP30).

They will be greeted by bat experts and given a chance to discover the wonder of these amazing nocturnal creatures.

"Learn how to use a bat detector, observe bats and listen to their echolocation calls whilst taking a short walk around the beautiful Syngfield Demesne managed by Offaly County Council for biodiversity," states a description of the event on the National Heritage Week website.
