Tullamore councillor welcomes Convent Road upgrade works

Tullamore councillor Sean O' Brien has welcomed recent improvement works carried out by the council at Convent Road in the town.

The work involved new surfacing, new road markings and and an upgrade of the pedestrian crossing on the road.

"I have been requesting upgrade works on the Convent Road for some time and I welcome the great work completed last week," said Cllr O'Brien on Monday.

"The new surface is of a very high standard and enhances this road. The upgrade of the pedestrian crossing was badly needed, as this crossing is used by residents of the northern area of Tullamore, and school children, to cross this busy road.

"The new road markings also alert drivers to slow down," added the Independent councillor.

"It was great to get this work done before St Philomena's School re-opens after the summer holidays," he concluded.
