An outdoor screening of 'Kneecap', the film about the Irish language rap trio of the same name, is to be shown in Birr on September 7.

Two more films added to line-up of outdoor screenings in Offaly

A series of outdoor screenings of Irish films in Offaly will continue into September, with two more movies recently being added to the line-up.

The 'Moonlit Movies' screenings began earlier this month, during Birr Vintage Week, with a screening of the 2003 film Intermission at the Courthouse Yard on Townsend Street.

The initiative, which is organised by OFFline Film Festival with support from Screen Ireland and Offaly County Council, will continue on Saturday week, August 24, with a showing of Handsome Devil in Kinnitty Castle at 7.30pm.

Classic Irish film The Commitments will then be shown on Friday, August 30 at 7.30pm in Birr Castle.

'Moonlit Movies' this week announced the addition of two more film screenings, both with a music theme.

The 2016 musical/comedy film Sing Street will be shown in Birr Castle on Saturday, August 31, from 7.30pm, while Kneecap, which is about the Irish language rap trio of the same name, is to be shown in the Courthouse Yard, Birr, on Saturday, September 7, at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the film screenings are priced €25, plus booking fee.

For the Kinnitty Castle screening, this includes transportation, food and a complimentary drink. For the Birr screenings, the cost includes food on the night.
