The lightning storm which lit up the night sky in the Midlands yesterday (Sunday) was captured in a series of dramatic photos taken at Clonmacnoise.

Athlone man Dominic Byrne was on the water, in the vicinity of Clonmacnoise, when lightning struck at the ancient monastic site.
