Portarlington resident takes up public relations role with Toastmasters

Portarlington resident Angela Afieghe recently took up a public relations role with Toastmasters, the non-profit organisation which helps people develop their public speaking and leadership skills.

Angela became public relations manager for Toastmasters' District 71, which spans across Ireland, Scotland and part of England, serving approximately 4,700 members in over 197 clubs.

She took up the role at the beginning of July, after four years of active participation and various leadership roles under her belt at club, division, and now district level.

"I am very proud to be the PR manager in the Centenary year of Toastmasters and I have a strong team of PR ambassadors at the Division level which is one of my strategies for success," she said.

One of Angela's major initiatives since taking on her role has been the introduction of a free PR Masterclass Series. The series kicked off with a session on Canva training, drawing an unprecedented attendance of over 340 participants globally.

Angela's efforts in public relations are driven by her belief in the power of effective communication and her commitment to expanding the reach and understanding of Toastmasters within the community and corporate environments.

She advocates for Toastmasters' 'learn-by-doing' approach, which provides a supportive and non-judgemental space ideal for anyone looking to improve their public speaking, communication and leadership skills.

Angela states: "It's about connecting with people and helping them unlock their potential through better communication. That’s what drives every initiative we launch."

Everyone is welcome to experience the supportive atmosphere of Toastmasters. Information on local club meetings and how to join can be found by searching for 'Find A Club' on the Toastmasters International website or on Meetup.
