JYSK is proposing to set up an outlet at the former Argos store at Tullamore Retail Park.

JYSK seeks to establish store in Tullamore

JYSK, the popular Scandinavian homewares and furniture chain, is planning to establish in Tullamore.

The Danish retailer has signalled its intention to seek permission for a change of use of the former Argos store, Unit D, at Tullamore Retail Park in Cloncollog to a retail warehouse.

JYSK (pronounced YOOSK) now has 24 stores across Ireland, after rapid expansion in recent years. It has stores in both Portlaoise and Athlone.

The company is set to apply to Offaly County Council for approval to change the use of an “existing catalogue retail store” to retail warehouse.

The changes would involve alterations to the internal layout, and the increase retail area on the ground floor through the removal of back office areas.

The existing Unit D store covers some 1,429 square metres.

Argos closed its Tullamore store in June 2023, as part of a decision to leave the Republic of Ireland.

JYSK is well known for high quality, on trend products for the home, from the bedroom to the garden. The brand has also enjoyed a worldwide reputation for expertise and knowledge with their Scandinavian sleeping culture and specialises in high quality sleeping products – from mattresses, duvets and pillows to bedframes and bases.
