Preparations continuing for Birr Vintage Parade this Sunday

One of the annual summer highlights in Birr, the Vintage Sunday Parade, will return this weekend (Sunday, August 4) at 3pm.

A day of family fun is in store, with street theatre, floats, vintage cars and more being planned.

Organisers have issued a reminder that those who intend to take part should register online - and the deadline for doing so is 5pm today (Thursday).

"As always, it will be possible to register in-person on the morning, but we're encouraging as much online as registration as possible," stated the organisers of the Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival.

Online registration can be completed here, and due to route restrictions arctic lorries are not being accepted in this year's parade.

Former Birr councillor John Carroll will give the opening address on Sunday, and Emma Nee Haslam will return as Parade MC.

"For Going with the Flow, we have a wonderful community-made river float and a stream of beautiful, ethereal bubbles filling Main Street, thanks to Paris Bubbles," said the Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival.

It added that this year's winners medals are being sponsored by Hollywood’s Garage, while an accessible area, and accessible parking, will be available again this year also.

Full details of the events being planned as part of the Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival can be found on its website here.
