Offaly farm with guide price of €1.85m fails to sell at auction
145.4 acres of prime agricultural land on the outskirts of Tullamore failed to sell at a public auction last week and is still being offered for sale by Mullingar-based auctioneers, James L Murtagh.
The farm, which is being offered in two lots, and also includes the site of the former historic Kilooley Hall, which is now in ruins, has a guide price of €1.85m (€12,800 per acre) and comes with an extensive range of top-quality farm buildings and livestock accommodation centrally located on the lands.
Situated on the outskirts of Tullamore on the N52, just 5km from Kilcormac and 22kn from Birr, the farm is also being offered for sale online and bids can be made with LSL Auctions.
One of the claims to fame for the farm – which has been described by the selling agents as “a model farm” - is the fact that the Esker Riada passes through it, and another unique characteristic of note is that it has a central roadway which cuts right through the farm.
The farm buildings on the site comprise a three-bay hay shed and lean-to structure, a four-bay lean-to shed on a raised concrete platform, a six-bay slatted shed with central passage and double slats on either side, two large round-roof six-bay hay sheds with concrete floors and wing walls (ideal for feed/storage area or additional livestock dry bedded accommodation), an indoor cattle-handling area, outdoor agitation points, numerous gated and concrete cattle handling areas and feeding apron.
Lot 1 of the farm consists of 100.8 acres of lands, along with the buildings, while Lot 2 consists of the remaining 44.5 acres of prime land.
