Children in Tullamore find week-old kitten tied up in plastic bag

The Offaly SPCA group said it's "very difficult" to cope with the animal neglect cases it's seeing, the latest of which involved children in Tullamore finding a week-old kitten tied up in a plastic bag with its dead sibling.

The group shared details of the shocking discovery in a social media post today (Wednesday).

It said the local children found the kitten "desperately struggling to stay alive" in a plastic bag.

"Is there any excuse for this cruelty? Well is there?" asked the Offaly SPCA post.

"It is very difficult to cope with this. We are exhausted trying to swim against the tide of human cruelty, neglect and disrespect.

"We need more fosterers, more educators, more people to stand beside us to hold back the waves of abuse, cruelty, ignorance and inhumanity."

Offaly SPCA added that the kitten was currently "being fed every two hours around the clock" in an effort to help ensure its survival.

The post by the Tullamore-based charity pointed out that its latest neutering campaign finishes this Friday.
