Heritage Week event to take place in Ballycumber

Balllycumber Tidy Towns will host an event as part of Heritage Week on August 25 titled 'Folly Trails & Treasure Trails.'

This event is organised for a second year after a very successful event in 2023. The theme this year will be: “Connections, Routes & Networks”, to explore links between communities and what brings us together. The connection between local communities in Offaly (Clara, Ballycumber, Pollagh and Ferbane) is the river Brosna which flows through each of the communities. In each community there is a bridge that sees many travelers and locals traverse daily.

To promote awareness and engagement, there will be a children’s event including a Foraging Workshop, Treasure Hunt, Art Exhibition, and Flag design and presentations (children will design a flag that will be flown at all the bridges in the above communities to remind us of our connectivity every time that we pass over the bridges.)

There will also be an adult's event. The evening event will be full of songs, poetry, recitation and music. The event will also feature artists from Clara, Ballycumber, Pollagh and Ferbane to tie in with the theme: “Connections, Routes & Networks.”

Folly Tales and Treasure Trails 2024 Heritage event takes place at Ballycumber Bridge, beside the River Brosna, on Sunday, August 25. Kids event 2-5pm and adults event 5-7pm
