Beekeeping conference to take place in Tullamore later this month

'It's all about the pollen' is the theme of a beekeeping conference which will take place in Tullamore later this month.

FIBKA (the Federation of Irish Beekeepers Associations) is holding its annual summer beekeeping conference in the Sacred Heart Secondary School, Tullamore, from July 26 to July 28.

The federation said the event was "the beekeepers' highlight of the season" and that it would attract visitors from all over the country, as well as many from overseas.

This year's guest speaker is Jamie Ellis, a professor of entomology and honeybee research, who will be visiting from the US. The event also includes The National Honey Show, which is sponsored by Bord Bia.

The three-day conference is open to all beekeepers and members of the public, and FIBKA said 'real honey' would be available for sale at it also.
