Funeral of Birr man to take place after tragic accident in Turkey

There was a sense of shock and great sadness in South Offaly following the death of Birr man Michael 'Mouse' Kelly in a road traffic accident in Turkey last week.

Mr Kelly, of Ballaghanoher, Banagher Road, Birr, died tragically on Thursday, July 4, while holidaying in Turkey.

The deceased was a well-known and popular figure in the Birr area, and was a lotto jackpot winner in 1997.

His funeral will take place this weekend. Mr Kelly is reposing at Boyd’s Funeral Home, Birr, (Eircode: R42 YF75) tomorrow, Saturday, from 4.30pm to 7pm.

Removal will then take place from his home this Sunday, at 1.15pm, to arrive at St Brendan’s Church, Birr, via Pound Street, at 1.45pm for Funeral Mass at 2pm. Burial will be afterwards in Clonoghil Cemetery, Birr.

Mr Kelly is survived and forever missed by his heartbroken wife Ann, his loving sons and daughters; Edward, Jonathon, Donna (Nettleship), Lisa and Celina, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, his adored grandchildren; Lara, Shanna, Curtis, Conor, Dean, Lily, Michael, Layla, Ryan, Alex, Corey and Darragh, and his brothers and sisters.
