Offaly issued with 24-hour rainfall warning
A 24-hour weather warning rainfall is due to come into effect in Offaly and seventeen other counties during the early hours of tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.
Met Éireann today issued the yellow-level rainfall warning which is set to be in place from 4am on Tuesday until 4am on Wednesday.
The national meteorological service said that, during this period, rain would be persistent and heavy at times, leading to the potential for localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility.
The weather warning was issued for all of Leinster, as well as Roscommon, Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Tipperary and Waterford.
Weather conditions are expected to improve as the week goes on, with current indications suggesting that next weekend will be mostly dry with sunny spells.
