Death of popular Birr man following accident in Turkey

South Offaly is in shock today at news of the death of Birr man Michael 'Mouse' Kelly in a road traffic accident in Turkey.

Michael 'Mouse' Kelly, Ballaghanoher in Birr, died yesterday.

It's understood he was involved in a traffic accident in Turkey.

The late Mr Kelly's death notice states he died tragically whilst holidaying in Turkey.

Funeral details have yet to be announced.The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed it is aware of the fatality and is providing consular assistance to a family following the incident in Turkey.

It said as with all consular cases, it does not comment on the details of any specific case.

The late Mr Kelly was well known and hugely liked in the Birr area. He was a lotto jackpot winner in 1997.
