Young Tullamore boxer trains with Irish Olympians

A young member of Spartacus Boxing Club in Tullamore had a memorable day out in Dublin earlier this week when she got the opportunity to train with the members of the Irish Olympic boxing team.

Akvile Siupieniute (13) was selected to attend the event in the Sport Ireland High Performance Campus on Tuesday.

There she got to participate in an open training day with the Olympic team, which includes Tullamore's Gráinne Walsh who started her journey in boxing at the Spartacus club.

It was a special day for Akvile, who is showing great promise in the sport herself and competed in the finals of National Junior Cadet Championships in Dublin's National Stadium last month.

The Olympic Games in Paris will run from the July 24 to August 11 The opening ceremony will take place on July 26, with the boxing getting underway the following day.
