Wordsmiths Tullamore to host evening of poetry and song to honour late Irish poet
A Tullamore-based writers group will hold an evening of poetry, story and song to commemorate the Tullamore link with the late Patrick Kavanagh, one of the country's greatest poets.
The event hosted by Wordsmiths Tullamore will take place in the Old Warehouse, Tullamore on Thursday, July 18 from 7pm to 9pm.
Weather permitting it is hoped to recite a selection of poetry on the banks of the canal to honour Patrick’s love of water. The Old Warehouse have very kindly agreed to provide tables and seating by the canal. In the event of unpleasant weather they will provide accommodation for attendees in the Whiskey Bar.
Patrick's grandfather married and raised a family in Tullamore.
Anyone who wishes to attend should RSVP Lorraine Dormer on 087 625 7475 or email: lorry@eircom.net.
