Local artists display work at Robbins shop

Robbins shop, located in O’Connor Square, Tanyard Lane, Tullamore is currently showcasing the work of local artists, John Higgins & Yvonne McDonald.

Their exhibition will run for July and August. Both artists are attending ‘The Green Haven’ studio near Daingean and are thankful for the encouragement and support from their art teacher Olive Cuskelly.

Both John and Yvonne would also like to thank Gearoid Donnolly, the proprietor of Robbins, for this opportunity.

Yvonne said: “Gearoid is always very supportive of any art endeavours and always has a great variety of art materials on hand in Robbins. Anything he doesn’t have in stock he is very good at ordering it in for us. We really appreciate that.”

In addition to a diverse range of art supplies, the shop offers a wide range of books, stationery, toys and art/craft materials.

The art on display is varied and while both artists say they enjoy landscapes they are not averse to trying other genres. When asked the best hint they got, John replied ‘More Paint’ while Yvonne said ‘Observation’. They both started with acrylics and watercolour but have now move on to oils.
