Weekend music festival gets underway in Edenderry

Edenderry GAA Grounds is set to be transformed into a spectacular Big Top Circus Marquee this weekend for one of the hottest events of the summer - Edenderry Music Festival - which kicks off today Friday, June 28 and concludes on Sunday.

Electrifying tribute acts like Qween, Trevor Smith & Friends in Low Places, and Ruaile Buaile plus many more will be on stage throughout the weekend.

Tickets are available to purchase online right up to the close of the festival, but organisers are advising advance purchase to avoid disappointment See Ticketstop.ie for tickets from €15 for day tickets and weekend tickets are also available.

The festival is renowned as one of the largest festivals in the Midlands with fantastic local artists supporting the acts, adding to the excitement and entertainment. Full cash bar facilities are available on the grounds on Friday and Saturday as well as a Food Village

The opening night of the festival on Friday, will feature local twisted-trad band, Ruaile Buaile as the headline act. The 5 piece band was formed in 2011 with world renowned musician Cathal Guinan (Fiddle), Seán Bourke (banjo) and original members Niall Kelly (Vocals and Guitar), Jack Godley (Percussion) and Shane Lynam (Vocals and Bass). From upbeat old Irish favourites, ground thumping trad, and unique twists on recent day classics, this collective are bringing their energy to masses around Ireland and further afield. Gates open at 6pm of Friday and first act at 7pm.

Saturday promises to be a big day of entertainment at the festival, with The Qween tribute and the Ultimate Garth Brooks Experience taking to the stage featuring Trevor Smith and his iconic 8-piece band.

Their performance will be followed by the Qween Tribute, which promises to be an electrifying homage to the legendary band Queen. Gates open at 5pm and the first act is on at 6pm

Sunday will be a family fun day with free admission. Bouncy castles, a children's fun fair, a children's comedy show, music, party games and special cartoon guests will be on hand to entertain children of all ages. There will also be food outlets, inflatables, mini games, sweets, a children’s funfair, a boxing showcase and lots of colour and family fun. No alcohol will be served on Sunday. Gates open at noon on Sunday.

The Festival has moved to the Edenderry GAA grounds to facilitate the giant Big Top marquee to house the music acts over the weekend so the festival will not be weather dependent and also with large crowds expected, organisers considered it safer to operate in the grounds of the GAA away from the main road.

Edenderry Festival 2024 is proudly sponsored by SSE Renewables and Offaly County Council Rural Development LEADER Programme. Midlands 103 will be broadcasting live from midday on Sunday.
