Completed tallies for Birr area

Fianna Fáil's Peter Ormond will top the poll and is only a few votes shy of the quota on the first count, according to these tally figures.

John Leahy, who topped the poll in 2019, is also set to be returned to the council.

Fine Gael's John Clendennen has the next highest vote, and is sure to be re-elected. A strong showing by his party running mate, Hughie Egan, means the party is likely to pick up a second seat.

The real battle is for the last two seats.

Fianna Fáil is bound to take a second seat, at least, with Barbara Daly and Audrey Hennessy Kennedy neck and neck.

Sinn Féin's Sean Maher and Social Democrats Clare Claffey may fight it out for the final seat, with the third Fianna Fáil candidate not to be entirely ruled out either.
