Hannah Smullen and Frances Crowley on Racing TV

First win for Hannah Smullen

Offaly native Hannah Smullen (21), daughter of late jockey Pat Smullen, had her first win on Friday in Tramore.

Smullen, in her seventh ride under rules, brought Fillusion, trained by Gordon Elliott, home to win the female riders' bumper at the Waterford course.

Speaking to Racing TV, she said the success meant everything to her. “It's absolutely amazing.

"I've been dreaming of doing this since I was a kid.”

She thanked her mother, Frances Crowley, and trainer Elliott for their support.

“None of this would have been possible without them,” an 'absolutely delighted' Smullen said.
