Taoiseach visits Cloghan and Ferbane to canvass for local election candidate

An Taoiseach Simon Harris and European election candidate Nina Carberry visited both Cloghan and Ferbane on Friday last, in order to put their political weight behind Fine Gael's local election candidate Hughie Egan.

Mr Harris spent some time at Paddy Flynn's recently renovated and reopened lounge bar where he interacted with customers and was greeted by party supporters. He listened and took note of some of the issues of the locality.

He assured those present that if they supported Hughie their votes would not be lost as they were supporting a dedicated and approachable candidate.

From Cloghan, Mr Harris did a canvass of the Main Street in Ferbane accompanied by Hughie starting from Gleeson's public house.

He was told of the issues affecting the area and the problems facing so many of our youth in relation to their ability to acquire housing. Hughie stressed to him that many of the youth while having reasonable jobs and income were unable to purchase housing and that the rental option was now a no-go zone.

The Taoiseach also responded to issues in rural Ireland and the now regulatory environment affecting agriculture.

Hughie was the last candidate eliminated in 2019 and needs a final push by all residing at the Cloghan/Ferbane/Doon/Clonmacnoise areas on June 7 in order to have someone elected that is willing to listen, to respond and act for the betterment of the area.
