We sent a questionnaire to all 15 candidates running in the Birr Electoral Area in the forthcoming Offaly County Council election. The responses were published in print in the Offaly Independent last Friday.

I would have always had an interest in politics.

WHY ARE YOU RUNNING IN THIS ELECTION?

I feel there is a need for more Independent councillors who can speak for local people on issues and with a view on changing how some things are being done within the system.

WHAT ARE THE TWO BIGGEST ISSUES IN YOUR AREA?

There are lots of issues that need to be dealt with, but the two biggest issues I am coming across on this campaign are the housing crisis and the need for major repairs to foothpaths in all towns and villages in the Birr electoral area.

I am a straight-talking and honest person so I won't make promises that I can't keep, but I will try my hardest to get issues sorted for people. I am very approachable and easy to work with.
